Norman Carr Safaris

Norman Carr Safaris offers a selection of 6 camps and lodges in the South Luangwa National Park region of Zambia. Having been in operation since 1950, Norman Carr Safaris is one of the Eco tourism safari founders of our thriving industry today. For Norman Carr the founder of Norman Carr Safaris, safari is all about sharing and preserving the unique wilderness of the Luangwa Valley by offering safaris of the highest standards in an authentic and traditional manner. The Norman Carr Safaris offerings include:

Kapani Lodge is a 18 bed comfortable family lodge situated on the banks of one of the Luangwa River's many ox-bow lagoons. It is located close to the main Mfuwe area of the South Luangwa, one of the finest sub Saharan safari areas around. The lodge is on mains electricity and offers most modern facilities. Kapani is open all year round and is a family safari hotspot as it is children friendly.

Luwi Bush Camp is a 8 bed thatched bush camp nestled in the shade of age old mahogany trees. It is situated deep in the heart of the National Park, on the dynamic seasonal Luwi River after which it is named. The area is extremely remote with no other camps or people for many miles around. Focused on walking safaris but also offering game drives Luwi is the most traditional and rustic of the Norman Carr Safaris Bush Camp offerings.

Nsolo Bush Camp is a 8 bed thatched bush camp each room built on raised wooden decks overlooking the seasonal Luwi River flood plain. Nsolo offers slightly more in the form of "bush luxury" then Luwi, but remains one of the more traditional bush camps of offer within the Norman Carr Safaris fold. Walking Safaris are once again the focus but game drives are also offered to any who might want to take in this pristine area while relaxing on a game viewer.

Kakuli Bush Camp is a 8 bed walk in tented bush camp with spectacular views on the banks of the Luangwa River and is the only true bush camp open for the green season. This area of the Park is renowned for offering guests some of the best game viewing opportunities in Zambia. Safari activities from Kakuli can be a mixture of game drives and walking safaris and guests are able to decide each day if they want to venture out on foot or with the vehicle. Kikuli is the camp used for the Norman Carr Safaris "Rivers and Rainbows" green season boating and walking safaris offering.

Mchenja Bush Camp is a 10 bed walk in, luxury tented bush camp and it occupies a stunning setting beneath a magnificent grove of ebony trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. Luxurious, elegant and stylish, Mchenja is perfect for those wanting to explore the South Luangwa in style. Guests staying at Mchenja can choose whether they want to view their wildlife on foot or from an open game viewing vehicle. Its setting on the Luangwa River ensures that it is one of the game viewing hot spots of the region.

Chinzombo is a 12 bed wildly luxurious safari camp that will open its doors to the public in March 2013. It is set on the banks of the Luangwa River and in prime game viewing terrain. Designed by award winning architects Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, Chinzombo will bring levels of comfort, style and elegance previously unseen to the Luangwa Valley. Each of the six villas will have its own private plunge pool, cooled sleeping areas, and massive bathroom with luxurious spa amenities. Its elevated location will ensure that Chinzombo will be a year round luxury safari offering.
